Unveil the mystery behind the dense fog
The Skeleton coast is a section of the west coast of Africa, in Namibia, where the arrival of the cold Benguela current produces dense ocean mists most of the year and the desert sands of Namibia literally fall into the South Atlantic Ocean. In addition, the winds blow from the interior towards the sea, it rains very little and the climate is totally inhospitable.
In past centuries, when there were only rowing boats, it was possible to disembark, after crossing the tide and the fog but then, because of the current you could not depart again and the only way out was to make hundreds of kilometers through the arid desert.
This fact and the numerous shipwrecks caused by the fog and the constant and intense waves, have given name to this area: The Skeleton coast

Since 1971, the area that goes from the Ugab river in the south to the Kunene river in the north has been declared a National Park of almost 17,000 km2. It remains one of the most virgin places in the world.
The northern part of the park is declared an intangible area. Among the highlights of this area are the clay castles of the Hoarusib River, the Agate Mountain, the salt pan, and the great pinniped colony (seals, sea lions, …) in Cape Cross.
